This is in response to Jane Dougherty’s Poetry Challenge. The poems are supposed to form a lantern shape.

Dawn Breaks
Red, Orange
Streaks of color

Chirping
Sounds of spring
Break through the gloom
Sing

Rests there

Okay. You win.

Fun. You are my muse.
Thanks, Janet. I hope I can live up to that responsibility. 😉
I think the last one is my favourite 🙂
Mine, too!
My husband liked the one about the cats. 🙂
That’s because he knows his cats 🙂
Exactly. He said he didn’t know if anyone else would get it, but it made him laugh.
There’s something about cats. I can never decide if it scares me or if I find it reassuring.
Our cats are so not like the stereotypical cats. The grey-striped one is my baby who follows me everywhere and sleeps curled against me.
Cats seem to share a lot of strange habits (like boxes, computer keyboards, dog’s basket/blanket/lunch) yet they are all individuals with quaint little foibles all their own.
Nice pattern and a fun read. … the cats section made me laugh.
Thanks, Frank. Every morning, they make our morning paper reading interesting. 🙂
We have cats, but no longer have them due to allergies … so I can relate.
Oh, too bad about the allergies. I love our little guys. 🙂
Otherwise, we would have them.
I labored through one, and here you bring us a string of lantern poems! Nicely done.
Thank you! Yours was really wonderful, and worth your labor!
Gosh, Merril, you are getting to be the ring leader of novel poetic forms. This lantern shape appears to be a variation of technopaegnia. I love how your vignette stanzas build to a crescendo. 😉
Haha. Thanks, Marian. 😉
WOW! You nailed it superbly! ❤
Hi, Rachel! Thank you so much!
Splendid. Each one standing alone, yet together create a tapestry of a morning so clear in its imagery.
Thanks so much, Doug!
Wonderful group. I too smiled at the cats, but the last one is my favorite. I see those words flying! (K)
Thanks so much, K! The last one was also my favorite. 🙂
These are all so beautiful, I really enjoyed them.
Thank you so much, jazzytower!
