This is for Frank’s Hawk Haiku challenge.
Daydreaming while washing dishes—windows of the mind. I look out through the cold glass pane to the world.
hawk perches on bare branch
stillness charged with energy
rabbit sees no more

National Park, NJ–from my kitchen window
Great shot also!
Thank you–not too bad for an iPhone shot through a window. 🙂
Not at all.
🙂
Great catch!
Thank you, Marian!

Thank you, Frank!
Whoa! Quick response for you to capture this dive for food! It is a fine and natural haiku. I love the bold title, too!
Thank you, Robin. I was at the sink and saw the bird perch. I grabbed my iPhone and just held it there. I’m not usually that quick–or lucky. 🙂
Awesome photo! Nice of the hawk to wait for you. The thrill of the hunt, vicariously.
Thanks, Ken. Pure luck with my iPhone. 🙂
Action-packed shot, Merril! Captured in words too 🙂
Thanks, Jane. 🙂
🙂
Boo. Poor rabbit. So not boo to the poem, but boo to the bunny’s end. Great shot! We have hawks here. They looks so large, so I am always surprised when I read online how they are not really very big at all.
Thanks, Luanne. I was sad about the rabbit, too. I actually sent my husband out to see what the hawk had pounced on though. This was a small hawk, but some are bigger. I guess hawks are smaller than other birds of prey. We have lots of turkey vultures here–they are big and ugly. 🙂
What are their natures like, I wonder?
The vultures–efficient. They do tidy up. 🙂
I think they look graceful when they fly.
Ouch!
🙂
Love that second line Merril.
Thank you, Janice!
Cool photo in action
Thank you!
Poor rabbit. Nice shot.
Thank you. Yes, poor rabbit. 😦 I didn’t actually see it–I sent my husband out to look.
Yes, better from afar. Sounds like watching ‘nature’ on PBS. Only, really in the flesh☺
