Here! He cries,
Here I am, me.
Hear me, he sings
then Cardinal takes wing.
See me, in wind she winds
and calls. Caw! Caw!
See me, in wind she whirls,
glides in a sea-misted twirl.
Theyβre there, then go,
their feathers glistening–
while I stand here, then there,
watching and listening.
For Day 14, NaPoWriMo. Iβve incorporated some homonyms. I’m tired today, but I was determined to write something.
You sound tired, though the poem has a querulous tone to it, and I imagine you/the narrator standing in the wind, getting exasperated π
Hahaha. That’s so funny. Not what I intended at all. I guess I better get a better sleep tonight. π
I hope you do. I’m getting so sick of not sleeping. Might have to take a tablet this evening but I hate doing that.
It’s a very windy poem π
I think mine was because I took a Sudafed yesterday because I was so congested. I knew that might happen. I normally sleep OK.
Funny (and fiendish) how drugs intended to help you relax often make you insomniac. Good luck tonight.
Well, it did help the congestion–a lot! Hope you have a better sleep tonight, too.
Thank you π
π
You did great! A bird poem never disappoints. π¦π¦π¦
Thank you, Charlotte.
I love watching and listening to the birds. π
Oh I felt the same with today’s prompt…slept half-way through writing it and labelled myself as ‘boring’ when I read what others came up with. lol. Read your comment and felt better.
Thank you for reading! Yeah, I was having a hard time writing anything today–my brain was tired. π
I’ll go read yours now.
I didn’t sense a tiredness as much as a lazy Sunday-feel.
Lovely.
Thank you, Dale. It’s definitely a lazy Sunday for me. I think I needed it.
Me too π

Stirred up a playful spurt on my end – I’m heading outside to look for my resident cardinals and notice how they notice me and whooooosh to a new roost … only to keep watching me watching them … kind of like playing peek-a-boo.
Aww–thank you so much. I hope you have a good time!
Youβre pretty creative when youβre tired, Merril!π
Thank you, Jill! π
This was fun.
Thank you! π
Even tired, we still love to hear your call π€
Thank you! π
I’d love to go outside and have the opportunity to spot a red cardinal so your poem stirs my imagination! ..from New Zealand
Thank you so much! There are a bunch of birds singing now here in New Jersey–I guess the evening chorus. I would love to see some of the birds and other wildlife you have there in New Zealand.
The birds were going crazy with song here today, and your words really reminded me of how I’m always trying to see them and then the voice comes from a totally different place. it’s those wings…(K)
Yes, indeed! π
Well done for persevering
Thank you, Derrick. π
