Workday chores set down,
the sun sinks low, birds take wing,
stars soon appear to glimmer and sing
songs drifting over gleaming river
and sleepy town
to me and you, the sound
of nature, moon hums a chorus–
and so, night passes before us.
I’m hosting dVerse today. We’re writing quadrilles, using the word, “set.” Come join us!
Singing stars, humming moon and all’s right with the world ๐
At least in my little poetry world! ๐
Don’t tell anyone. Some entrepreneur will end up selling tickets.
Hahahaha.
My musings today were about hope, so clearly I’m on some mission in my poetry dream world. Or the Oracle is whispering. . .or both. ๐
Oh! I missed the musings! We had the internet technician round messing about with things half of the afternoon, but I should have seen a notification….unless Outlook is hiding them somewhere silly. I’ll look tomorrow. Bedtime for me ๐
Sweet dreams! ๐
What a shame I didn’t get the wish last night ๐ฆ
Oh dear. Hope the dreams weren’t too bad.
Not enough of them. I’m in insomniac mode at the moment.
Oh, sorry. Well, I hope tonight is better.
Thank you. I might take a pill and zap it.
zzzzzzzz ๐
I love such sounds… a lullaby of lights that is needed on the first workday of the week
Thank you very much. I think so, too, though some people never hear them.
Nice and peaceful, Merril.
Thank you, Ken!
I love the start of that, the setting down of chores. So peaceful.
Thank you very much, Sarah. I haven’t actually had much of that lately. ๐
I like the lulling of the rhyming as the day winds down to a feeling of quietness.
Thank you very much. That’s lovely! ๐
You are welcome ๐
How restful. Humming moon, singing stars, setting down chores! Thank you for this prompt.
Thank you very much, Toni! You’re very welcome!
This is so peaceful Merril.
Thank you so much, Linda!
Your poem engenders a feeling of serenity. Bravo!
Thank you very much, Beverly!
Lovely poem, Merril. Maybe you should publish a book of poems to help us troubled sleepers.
Thank you, Jill. ๐
Clever rhyming with serene vibes; it does relax me, like doing yoga at sunset.
Thank you very much.
Do you do yoga at sunset?
I love the idea of the monk humming a chorus, beautiful
I love the idea of the moon humming a chorus, beautiful
Thank you so much! In my world, the moon often hums and the stars sing. ๐
I like the “chorus” and “before us” rhymes.
Thank you very much. Since you’re the rhyming king, that’s an extra compliment. ๐
As Jane said, when the sky is singing, what else do you need? This definitely has the Oracle’s touch. (K)
Thank you, Kerfe. It makes me happy to think they’re singing. ๐
Me too.
I like your night songs drifting over a sleepy little town.
Thank you, Dwight!
This is a rich and soothing piece Merril, very inviting.
Thank you very much, Rob!
That’s very soothing. Thanks, I needed that.
Thank you, and you are quite welcome!
This is beautiful, Merril.
And it’s funny because I have been trying to put something like this into words. So, thank you! I’ll stop now.
Thank you so much, Dale. I’m glad I was able to put your thoughts into words–without even knowing them. ๐ Feel free to join in the prompt.
Hmmm… I may one day play with you
Iโm reading your quadrille this morning, Merril, and it is restful and calming, a lullaby for adults. Iโll be sure to read it again this evening, when I will need it!
Aww–thank you, Kim. That’s very kind.
Beautiful accompaniment to dramatic photograph
Thank you very much, Derrick!
This sounds quite blissful ๐
Thank you! ๐
Excellent description that captures the mood and setting. Love the pic!
Thank you, Frank!
Soothing and Melodic. The Poetic equivalent of “Taps!” Beautifully done!
Thank you so much, Frank! That’s a lovely compliment.
I need to set down those chores more often.
Yes, wouldn’t that be nice. ๐
