The sky is dark,
I wait for the dawn–
branches tremble in the wind,
the silence broken with a moan,
the wind carries dreams and desire.
A gogyohka for dVerse Open Link Night (even though it’s now Friday morning here).

Perfect little ending for this piece.
Thank you very much!
Very nice, Merril! Our winds were howling last night…now it’s too cold!
Thank you, Jill! Yesterday was warm and rainy. Then the wind came. We still have a wind advisory here, and it’s much colder.
This encapsulates my mood for the last week. And of course, Van Gogh and the crows…(k)
Thanks so much, Kerfe.
I thought at first I was going to write about crows, so at least I got the painting. 🙂
That moan is chilling Merril. Well done. And thanks for joining in!
Thank you, Linda!
Nice! Love the image too.
Thank you very much!
Welcome!
Perfect pairing of the picture with poetry, thanks Merril ..
Thank you, Susan.
The wind also carries secrets and sadness Merril. I like this piece — brief and eerie.
Thank you very much, Rob!
I like the description of those dreams and desires being carried by the wind.
Thank you, Frank!
This is my kind of poetry. Five lines, no restrictions… And, having done karate, I do know that five is Go 😉
Now, this poem is perfect for my windy day here today!
Love this.
Thanks so much, Dale. I think each line is supposed to be a separate phrase? It was windy here, too! (But fortunately no tornado–one hit Philadelphia suburbs Halloween night.)
That’s what Mr. Google said. And thank goodness for that.
What’s a Gogogowhatever?! I had eight plus years of college and grad English courses and have never heard of most of the forms you post!!!
Hahaha. I just see these forms on other people’s posts. You can look this one up. It seems to be a popular form. It was invented by a Japanese woman–5-lines, each is supposed to be a separate phrase, I believe.
I do love the writing constraints, which is what these are.
The forms usually pass me by – but I admire your versatility. Another lovely one, Merril.
Thank you very much, Derrick!
My original thought was one of unease, but your last line is soothing.
Thank you–I think that’s how my mind went while writing it, too.

It seems like at the end of every dark night, dawn come as a savior …
Yes, and I’m such a morning person, I usually see it. 🙂
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! ❤️
Thank you so much!!
