On
the edge–
fall to winter
burnished gold now
fading, almost gone.
Cold north winds sigh and moan,
blowing time forward. Squirrels dart,
scamper over oak’s bare branches
gathering acorns for tomorrow
and tomorrow—till spring bursts into bloom.
This is an etheree for Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday challenge.
Oh yes – You’ve captured the time of the season very well. I like the concept of the edge.
Thank you very much, Frank!
Perfect, Merril!
Thank you!
It is the edge, isn’t it? I hadn’t thought of it that way. And winds blowing time forward… beautiful.
Thank you very much, Robin!
We’re experiencing a bit of the edge here. This morning at about 7:30 am, the temperature was 70 degrees. Now, a few hours later, it’s dropped to 63 and will continue to drop. Instead of squirrels darting, our boy kitty Junior is racing up and down the hallway, howling his displeasure 😉
It’s so strange when the temperature drops like that. Our little boys were racing around inside, too, earlier, but they’re both napping now. 🙂
Nicely done – and excellent accompanying pic.
Thank you, Derrick. I opened the window a crack and quickly stuck my phone out to get the shot. 🙂
This just feels like autumn turning into winter. Wonderful imagery! ❤
Thank you very much, Colleen!!
You caught themorning conditions here, perfectly.
Thank you. We’re getting rain and snow today. Right now it’s just gray, wet, and dreary
Wonderfully on the edge. Spring seems so far away and yet we know, before we can say boo, we’ll be there!
Thank you! Yes, time seems to move faster now. 🙂
Zip! March will be here before we know it!
🙂
Lovely etheree, enjoyed reading it
Thank you very much!
Much obliged
Those squirrels like shadows gathering the season…(k)
Oh, I like that! Thank you.
You are acrobatic, like the squirrels, hopping from one poetic form to another: haiku, etheree . . . the list goes On and On!
Hahaha. Thank you, Marian! 🙂
Love it! The photo fits right in. Congrats on the honorable mention:))
Pat
Thanks so much!
Lovely.
Thank you!
