Delaware River at Red Bank Battlefield, National Park, NJ.–November
Never Still
River
undisturbed, flows
into the future. Here.
Now. It carries goods and dreamers—
onward.
Another Crapsey Cinquain for Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday prompt, using synonyms for calm and present.
Nice
Thank you, Derrick.
Rivers are beautiful and the Delaware looks so clear! Carrying dreamers, lovely!
Thank you! 🙂 Sometimes it looks beautiful. I think the river is much cleaner than it used to be. But sometimes when I’m walking by in the park, I see trash–even stuff like tires.
People have no respect for nature at all. If it doesn’t ‘belong’ to someone they think they can trash it.
Yes. I hate when people just throw their litter on the ground or in the water. The tires I wonder about.
Yes, you really have to want to pollute a river to drag car tyres to the bank and throw them in. They are very useful in France. Mountains of them are burned when there are protest movements in the countryside, so maybe they don’t throw them away here 🙂
Yes, I have no idea where they come from–old industrial sites, ships, just floating downriver. . .? I think that was done here in the past, but I don’t know that people do it now.
They make a terrible bonfire…
And the smell!
And the smoke. They only do it because it’s horrible in every respect.
😡
So beautiful. The imagery is gorgeous! Fantastic piece.
Thank you very much. I appreciate that you stopped by, read, and left a comment!
Gorgeous, Merril. I love “flows into the future.” I’ve always felt the same when seeing a river. Enjoy your Saturday. I hope your mother is settling in. xo
Thanks so much, Jill. Rivers seem to carry so much history, so why not the future, too? 😉
Thank you for another wise and beautiful poem. I sometimes stop and gaze at a small urban stream on my way to leading Music Together classes. I remind myself to be like the stream and simply flow… Hurrah for streams and rivers and water in general!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Will. I’m going to imagine you standing at the stream now. ❤
Lovely … rivers are wonderful. I love the image of the river carrying “goods and dreamers” …
Thank you very much!
“… Carries goods and dreamers – onward…” I like that. Nice shot too, looks so serene. Nicely done Merrill.

Thank you very much, Pat!
