“This remarkable spiral galaxy, known as NGC 4651, may look serene and peaceful as it swirls in the vast, silent emptiness of space, but don’t be fooled — it keeps a violent secret. It is believed that this galaxy consumed another smaller galaxy to become the large and beautiful spiral that we observe today. Although only a telescope like the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, which captured this image, could give us a picture this clear, NGC 4651 can also be observed with an amateur telescope — so if you have a telescope at home and a star-gazing eye, look out for this glittering carnivorous spiral.” Text credit: ESA (European Space Agency) Image credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA, D. Listen—
ask a ghost
how the universe wakes
with icy champagne kisses
spiraling in time,
feeding between sound
~and light~
drifts from the stars
you wish upon–
you dream of if
and promises made
with smiles and tears
in the language of hope.
Another puente from my collaboration with the Magnetic Poetry Oracle. I used words from two sets of tiles.
Another good if
Thank you, Derrick!
Two side of the same experience, light, tears and the universe. Your dream of smiling hope is the peaceful side. Mine was up there with that wild galaxy. Our thoughts connect somewhere in the light between 🙂
We were writing our comments at the same time. 😀
Yes, we were definitely connecting.❤️
Seems like it. I was about to go out for a walk but the weather’s so wild, the bit of blue lasted about thirty seconds and it’s about to pour with rain again. Checked in to see if you’d posted instead 🙂
Yesterday I got caught in a downpour while I was out walking, but today it’s sunny. I had a long walk earlier this morning.
It’s been wild here almost all week, storms, hail, lashing rain, cold. The vine against the wall facing west (into the storms) has been ripped to pieces poor thing.
Poor vine! Part of our fence came down in the wind we had on Thursday. No hail though.
They were big hailstones too. I hope you can fix the fence!
Big hail is scary!
Yes, my husband can fix it. He’s waiting for some piece that slides into another piece 😀
It was really big hail, only by what I’m used to seeing, not tennis ball size. More like marbles, but that’s big enough if you’re a tender little leaf 🙂
Yes, it is!
I enjoyed this, Merril…beautiful! Enjoy your Saturday. ❤️
Thank you very much, Jill!
We have beautiful weather here today. I hope you enjoy your Saturday, too.
It was a picture perfect spring day! 🌸🌺🐥🌸
😀🌸
This takes a nice turn at the bridge. Hope.
Thank you, Ken.
The universe contains everything…very much like Jane’s embrace, but dreamier. (K)
Thank you, Kerfe. And ues, I agree about with you and mine and Jane’s. 😀
A hopeful poem … the Oracle worked well with you (again). 🙂
Thank you very much! 😀
Beautiful: “promises made / with smiles and tears / in the language of hope”
Thank you!
Thank you so much!
This was so beautiful, Merril.
Thank you so much, Dale!
Well, how cool is that!
I’m not sure what you mean, but thank you! 😀
Delightful!
Thank you!
