She sleeps, wishing her black dress gone,
an elaborate gown to take its place,
her hair honey-spun and shiny, the air
rain-scented in a sky washed clean–
(she can almost recall this life)
deeper in her wandering vision,
it’s purple-shadowed forests, chanting
beasts, repulsive, steaming hot and streaming fire–
red clouds against the blue-black sea–
she wants to wake to a magic kiss,
feel desire, sighs “if only,”
and a thousand ghost voices answer, “in time.”
The moon hums
a spray of silver light soars,
she follows, a bird in flight
over a river, spirits murmur in the dawn-glow,
she breathes, inhales secrets–
all the versions of herself, there.
Awakens, or does she?
The wind whispers, “why wait?”
This, then, the after-when.
My message from the Magnetic Poetry Oracle today.

‘The wind whispers, why wait?’
I love that, the questions and hesitations. Where our poems are similar is in the contrasts, and that everything is in the now, this, and the after-when.
Thank you! You’re quite right about the similarity in contrasts, and the sense of time.
There’s always a common factor 🙂
😀
Beautiful, Merril. ❤
Thank you, Robin!
Fabulous, Merril!
This is like, a perfect poem/thought/
I’m seeing an Art Gown! If that sounds shallow, it is the main way I express myself creatively.
I see a black gown, though she wishes the black dress gone.
Nonetheless, this is very artistically inspirational.
Thank you, Resa. I’m honored that you imagine an art gown around it.
I’m thrilled when I see gowns in nature, the arts, anything. Inspiration is always welcome!
I am thrilled your work inspired me.
😀
Definitely dreamy
Thank you, Derrick.
I particuarly like the tug between the dream world and the real world of possibility.
Thank you so much, Liz. I imagine that can be a tug at times.
You’re welcome, Merril. It can be a tug between those two worlds, particuarly now.
Amazing words and so deep. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for your very kind comment.
