Trees and birds kiss the sky
in blue-on-blue reflection
and today, I’ll sky the world with you
without pause or hesitation.
In mirrored lands we’ll float
on dreams, the clouds our boat
watching the heron squawk, soar–
this is enough, I need nothing more.

A quadrille for dVerse, where De has asked us to use the word, sky. I think the rhythm of this one is more soothing than my previous post this morning. I don’t know why I’m stuck on couplets and rhyme though today.
That;s wonderful!
Thanks!
You are welcome!
Great article 🌹🤗💐lovely 🌹🌹
Well, it’s a poem, but thank you. 😏
But it is a good one 😊💐
Thanks! 😀
You are welcome 😊
This drew a deep sigh out of me 😀 how could anyone possibly want or need anything else? This … this right here is enough ❤️❤️ Splendid write!
Aww—thank you so much, Sanaa!
You’re most welcome! ❤️❤️
Perfection.
Thank you very much, my friend!
Now… off to create mine… that cannot possibly be as good. 😉
Oh, don’t say that.
🙂 OK. I won’t.
🤣
😏
I’ll sky the world with you……what an amazing line!
This is exactly how I feel sitting here in Provincetown with the Atlantic Ocean sounding its high tide and the forever sky above. 🙂
Thank you so much, Lillian.
I’m envious of your Provincetown retreat. It sounds beautiful and relaxing.
That heron has become your mascot, and yes the rhythm isn’t as frantic as this morning’s poem, more reflective.
I saw the heron this afternoon, by the way.
Thank you. It’s funny because I’ve never seen herons there before, but now I see this one (I think it’s the same one) nearly every morning. So, he flew to France?
Yes, all alone. I go weeks sometimes not seeing him (or her). Now I know why. The Atlantic is pretty wide 🙂
Oh, and that explains why I didn’t see him or her for so long. Maybe there’s a long distance relationship involved.
Herons are solitary. They probably go in for that kind of thing.
Probably. 😀
First off, that heron shot is FANTASTIC. I adore water birds.
Soooo happy you verbed the word! This is so good:
“today, I’ll sky the world with you
without pause or hesitation.”
Thank you so much, De. I’ve been seeing that heron almost every morning for the past week or two. And that stanza just came right out like that. So, I’m extra pleased you like it. 😀
I love love the word sky as a verb… what a great world to use to be with someone.
Thank you so much. I know how much dVerse folk like verbing nouns. 😏
Wonderful, Merril!
You’ve made me feel like skying!
Thanks so much, Resa! 😀
😀
Great shot of the heron. Sometimes critters are angels sent to salve the way. Nicely done.
Thank you so much. I do love seeing that heron. Perhaps you’re right.
You’re very welcome ❤
The prompt word is perfect for the water trip you’re on, Merril, which I’ve been following on social media. I love the Hendrix reference in the opening line, and the appearance of the heron. It’s a heron that appears at beginning and end of Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, a book I love for its imagery.
Thank you very much, Kim. I wish I could say the allusions were intended. I haven’t read Of Mice and Men in such a long time. I don’t even remember the heron in it.
“I’ll sky the world with you” – I love that line.
Thank you, Ken. That stanza just rolled out. 😀
Balm for the soul….and don’t we all need it about now?!!
Aww–thank you so much, Beverly!
Oh, so beautiful and serene! ❤ ❤
Thank you very much, Lucy! ❤️
I got the rant out earlier today. 😀
Hi Merril! This is something I need to share with my fellow writers here at dVerse. I so enjoy reading the work that you create and post, and am genuinely honored to be embraced as a part of this community of poets. May we all find healing in these challenging times. And as a true aquarian love child, and also a proud flower child of the 60’s, who truly believed then we would some day change the world to be a better place for all, and still believes that we might yet do it — I wish each of you peace, health, and love. Write on!
Awww–thank you, Rob. That’s lovely. ❤️ I wish the same for you and the rest of the dVerse poets.
:). BTW, I loved your poem and picture today.
Thank you so much, Rob!
Lovely poem. I have seen the Delaware from West Deptford as well. You captured the serene imagery of this place. Nicely done.
Thank you very much! That’s cool that you know the area.
I like it.
Thanks! 😀
I love the word sky as verb, and your photo is stunning. This post is filled with gratitude of all blessings.
Thank you so much, Grace. I did my ranting earlier in the day. 😏
❤️❤️❤️
Awww–thank you!
Yes, indeed enough – love the ‘squawk’ right in the middle of all this bliss. I’m bet if it were the full 100% paradise, the herons would carol or tweet softly or something…🙂
Thank you, Peter. The sound is kind of like a honk and a quack. Perhaps they think it’s beautiful.
This is so beautiful, Merril! I absolutely love it. 💗
Thank you so much, Katy! I’m so pleased you do.
I absolutely love the “I’ll sky the world with you” and “In mirrored lands we’ll float
on dreams, the clouds our boat.” What a great adventure.
Thank you very much, Victoria!
This flies and takes us along with it; what more could be asked/
Well done, Merril.
Thank you very much, Ron. That’s so kind of you to say.
Luv the journey and the looking down with awe
Much💜love
Thank you so much, Gillena!
Nice coupleting, Merril. Serene and beautiful.
Thank you very much, Sarah.
An uncrowded beach is really the best place to be and relax…and reading your poem as well!
Thank you so much! That’s very kind.
This sounds perfect – I would need nothing more neither.
Thank you very much, Ingrid.
Beautiful reflections
Thank you, Derrick. I see what you did there. 😀
🙂
This does float, beautifully. (K)
Thank you!
Really lovely!!! Every line a word picture…blue on blue… word clouds floating on the water. Thank you for sharing…:)
Thank you so much for your enthusiastic comment!
Nature is always enough 🙂
Indeed! 😀
Simple pleasures are more than enough! Beautifully written.
Thank you very much.
“In mirrored lands we’ll float
on dreams, the clouds our boat” I love this line. Amazing writing! 💞
Thank you so much!
There’s my favorite blue river again–and yes, it is enough.
Thank you!
It’s foggy here today. The river was not blue. 😀
A river is entitled to a different mood from time to time. 🙂
🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful words and images, Merril. 🙂
Thank you so much, Robin! 😀
