Breath in—blue fire,
the universe’s secrets, the champagne clouds,
the blush born in ferocious fever-dances,
the aching beauty of after
the light-singing stars.
What was so is still
the moon whispers, listen and recall
the ghost rhythms of time–
and if,
the breeze explores,
it urges the sky toward spring
through the black beneath the storm,
where sea-ships, dream-carriers,
sail under a spray of diamonds
toward tomorrow.
Happy day after Christmas! Here’s my message from the Oracle. She made me work for this one.
The imagery you and the Oracle created had me holding my breath in… beautiful, Merril.
Wow–thank you so much, Dale! 💙
Happy Christmas (again)! Seeing that you’d posted and reading the title reminded me that I hadn’t visited the Oracle today so dashed over to the grotto before reading yours.
I know, we wrote more or less the same poem again. You go cosmic where I go earthy, but it’s basically the same.
That last stanza! Gorgeous 🙂
Thank you so much!
I just read yours, and we did write very similar poems again. 😀
I’ve just read Kerfe’s and all three are very similar.
They are! I guess we shouldn’t be surprised.
Not surprised, but I’ve begun to think that there’s a real connection even if I can’t explain it.
I know. . .😀
💙🌟🌛💨☁️🌷🚢💎
Hahaha. I’ll just 😀.
😉
Reblogged this on The Wombwell Rainbow.
Thank you, Paul!
The second stanza is the one that whispers sweetly in my ear.
Thank you very much, Liz.
You’re welcome, Merril.
Beautiful, Merril! Happy day after!
Thank you very much, Jill!
Yes, the same feeling. I love especially the last 2 lines of the first stanza. We are definitely caught in a between-time. (K)
Thanks, Kerfe. Yes, we definitely are!
Wow this piece was beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Wow! Your poem evokes the photo and makes me catch my breath. But these few words, “What was so still is …,” I really like these words. They make me think of that which is timeless, like love and friendship.
Thank you so much, Marie!
I’m so pleased that you thought that about the line.
Love the inspiring images!
Thank you very much, Luanne!

Loving mysticism of your poem. These are my favorite lines:
“What was so is still
the moon whispers, listen and recall
the ghost rhythms of time–”
Your poem brought a Joni Mitchell tune to mind that I think goes well with your poem:
Thank you very much, Lisa.
You’re very welcome ❤
💙
I liked your words, but I loved your live reading of them. We are so lucky to do these live video visits; it deepens everything from fellowship to symbolism,
Thank you very much, Glenn. I never like the way my voice sounds, so I’m pleased you thought the reading worked. It is great to see and hear our dVerse friends.
Lovely, lovely.
Thank you!
So beautiful Merril, and I loved hearing you read it.
Thank you so much, Linda. And thank you for hosting. I’m still catching up on reading. 🤣

and if, the breeze explores,

There is so much anticipation and thrill with the coming of Spring. Beautiful shot, Merril regret not there to hear you, Ma’am!
Hank
Thank you so much, Hank!
I was surprised to see that it looks as
if I missed this lovely poem first time round
Thank you for coming back to it.
Full of hope, as we should be.
Yes, sometimes it helps.
Beautiful imagery and so full of hope and anticipation of what’s to come! 💝
