I am after beauty–
searching for it, an old friend
who vanished, but returned
~in the glorious pink of dawn~
the moon sings farewell
as she sets over the blue river,
and a heron soars white
~in a soft wind-whisper~
I hear life,
in shadowed language, full of ifs,
the scent of summer rain,
the light after the storm clouds part.
It’s been quite a year, hasn’t it? And it may get worse before it gets better. But I decided to consult the Oracle, and she’s given a hopeful message. Happy New Year to all of you!
(This started as a Puente, but it just kept going, sort of like this year.)
What a beautiful picture, the delicate black tracery against the pink!
I love that idea of beauty being like an old friend who turned up again 🙂 Must visit the Oracle. I knew there was something I had to do this evening.
Thank you! It was yesterday’s sunrise. Today it’s rainy and dreary. I thought even though it’s not Saturday, she might have a message for the New Year.
And she did! I’ll visit straight away.
Love the poem! Happy New Year!!! Wishing you blessings in the year to come…
Thank you very much, Linda. A very happy New Year to you, too.
Great New Year’s message from the Oracle, Merril – thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much, Ingrid!
What a fabulous picture to go with this beautiful puente (who says there can’t be more than one bridge crossing a winding creak?)
So lovely to read an uplifting message on this, the last day of a year that had so many challenges of all sorts but, when we tried to, we found some beauty.
Thank you so much, Dale. I think the form is a recently invented one, so perhaps this is my own variation. 😀
Yes, it’s tiring to only see and think about the negative things all the time.
I (not that I have any say) completely approve! 😉
So, I am glad you go out there and find the beauty. As I try to do as well. 😀
Yes, you do! 😀
Oh. Hit send too quickly!
Happy New Year Merril to you and Doug and your girls and their families… May 2021 bring you much love and laughter, joy and bliss, health and wealth!
Thank you very much, Dale! Happy New Year to you and your family, as well. I hope you also have all those things! (And good food.) 😀
We both will indulge in the good food, won’t we? 😉
Thank you! xoxo

Thank you so much, Jill! All the best to you and your family–a safe, happy, and healthy new year!
I adore the way you use modern punctuation, in an old fashioned way. x
Thank you, Resa!
I’m not certain I know what you mean about the punctuation, but thank you. 😀
