Day Sixteen of Paul Brookes’ Special January Ekphrastic Challenge, I’ve responded to the two works below.
An Astronaut Speaks from the Moon
Was there once color in your dust and shadows,
did a sea of turquoise and cobalt dance in ripples
to shimmer, prismed, like stained glass, vibrant-hued
in the light of stars, and sun, and Earthβ
I saw it rising
blue above your horizon, the color of dreams,
of sky and sea, but here–
here, it is the color of awe
and yearning. It is the color of home.
Reblogged this on The Wombwell Rainbow.
Thank you, Paul.
This reminded me of your morning walks, Merril. Very nice.
Thank you, Jill!
You keep me looking up where I see lots of color, Merril.
I can’t look down because I’m not an astronaut. (Just kidding about the looking down.) π
Thank you, Marian. π
This may be my favorite so far. (K)
Thank you very much–and for the art!
I’m so pleased with your responses. I like being on this side of an ekphrastic prompt.
