Cosmic after-
glow, echoes of light,
energy
and matter
through time, before time
before our time–eons
of coursing
color no one sees–
from the sky
to the sea
repeating cycles, fractals
and Fibonacci
on the beach,
a nautilus shell—
you hold it,
marveling
at its spiral curves, ancient
sailor, now moored here
amidst stones
and gull laughs, soaring
as Gaia
cups the world.
This is how life unfolds, in
circles and seasons
without hate.
Too late for her, or
him, or them—
the Other—
though filled with stardust, too. See
how cycles repeat?
A shadorma sequence for Paul Brooke’s Ekphrastic Challenge, Day 15. We’re halfway through! You can read the other poems here. My work is inspired by all three works of art. I am behind on replying to comments and visiting other posts because I’ve had to finish paying work this week, but I will catch up in the next couple of days. This will be my NaPoWriMo poem for today because I know I won’t have time to get to the prompt.
The circles and cycles, so much going around in this poem, and the shadorma form doesn’t even notice. If you see what I mean 🙂
Thank you. 😀
That is flows?
Yes. You don’t notice that the words are forced into strict line limits.
Oh, thank you very much! 😀
🙂
Reblogged this on The Wombwell Rainbow.
So well spun – with a chilling last question
Thank you very much, Derrick!
Like the spiral of the shell. (K)
Thank you. Yes. 💙
Woah,
Thank you. 😀
My pleasure.
Oh wow…. Read it twice, to let it all sink in. And around and around we go.
Thank you so much!
When I first saw the images, I thought there was no way I’d touch Jane Cornwell’s, but I did.
And you did it well!
💙
I like how you’ve delved into circles, spirals and repeating sequences here, they’ve always fascinated me!
Thanks so much, Ingrid!
Excellent shadorma. I love the mystical quality of your words, Merril. It the never ending circle of life. ❤️
Thank you, Colleen. Yes, it is. 💙
