A quack and a dash,
a soar, and a splash
off with a quiver
into the river–
only the ripples remain.
Each different, multi-planed,
dappled shadows, growing bright
everything changes in the light,
once from stars, then into the sea–
all connected –ducks, ripples, sky, me.
For dVerse Open Link Night, where Lisa is hosting. She shared a wonderful duck video on the prompt page, which made me think of the ducks I see at the park where I walk. The next OLN will be on June 24, and it will be LIVE at 3:00 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time. As with all dVerse prompts, anyone can join in. Then dVerse will take a two-week vacation.
This was much fun, especially for my Friday morning.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. 😀
Great way to welcome the day
Thank you. Yes, I agree!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Thank you for starting my day with a big smile!
You’re welcome! 😀
I’m also smiling thanks Merril 🙂 Photos are so alive!
Thank you so much, Susan! Yes, I managed to get the action shots. 😀
The rhythm and rhyme here are wonderful.
Thank you very much, Ken!
This made me smile. What is it about ducks that makes them so hard to take seriously?
Thank you!
I think the quack sounds so funny, and then there’s that waddle they do. . .😀
True, they are just funny birds 🙂
They are!😀
You’ve caught the essence of ducks. They do make us smile. (K)
Thank you! They do. 😀
I’ve been enjoying your duck and geese photos all week on Instagram, and this poem is the icing on the cake!
Thank you, Ingrid. That is very kind. 😀
I love the commune with nature that zooms in on the ducks. Wonderful, light, holistic, healing.
Thank you so much, Lisa!
You are very welcome 🙂 ❤
Light-hearted and a fun read. Most enjoyable.
Thank you, Beverly!
Perfection! I have to share with you my ducks and ducklings, gees and goslings, all captured yesterday 🙂
Thank you!
I think I saw some of them?
I just put one picture… the rest are waiting to be shared 🙂
😀
Fabulous! I adore ducks, and I love this poem!
Thank you!
I especially liked the ending lines —
once from stars, then into the sea–
all connected –ducks, ripples, sky, me
Nice! ~peace, Jason
Thank you very much, Jason!
You are welcome!
I hope you enjoyed writing this at least half as much as I enjoyed reading it! Love your ducks 😉
Aww–thank you so much, Marie. 😀
Lovely
Thank you, Derrick.
I see all the ducks (and the ducklings) all around… during the week I saw an eaglye trying to pick up one of them (but he failed)
Wow! I haven’t seen any ducklings, but lots of little goslings. Some of the newborn ones vanished, so it could have been an eagle got them.
There are ducklings and goslings… even cygnets but they are maybe safer from the eagle with their protective parents.
Love this Merril — love the way you tie the elements together… and I Ducks!
Thank you so much, Rob! Ducks are fun. 😀
