First the storm—a black dragon’s fire-roar,
swept away on fiddler’s notes,
scattered by an owl’s wings whoosh
across a blood red moon.
Sleep brings memories of forgotten tongues
lost to when
and if I can hear them, why don’t I understand
how here above the garden, the sky sings pink,
and honeyed-light falls in a spray,
a perfect moment that cannot last–
yet still I sense the echoes.
like a laugh remembered from a dream.
My poem from the Magnetic Poetry Oracle. I have been having some vivid dreams lately. . .
This is wonderful Merril! Your poetry is always stunningly beautiful. ❤
Oh, thank you so much, Rene! That is so very kind of you to say. 💙

In my head, images of this poem come together to form a surreal painting.
Very cool, Liz. I’m glad my words had that effect.
😀
The atmosphere is so similar to Kerfe’s poem and to mine though we have different preoccupations. The Oracle finds the universal in our feelings.
Yes–that’s a good way to put it. 😀
🙂
I’ve also been having vivid dreams lately. Wonderful poem, Merril!
Thank you, Jill!
Perhaps it’s the time change, and the changing seasons.
Dreams are just like echos…the substance remains even if the details are lost. I’ve been having vivid dreams too. I like the way the Oracle can approach the same subject in each of our different ways. (K)
Yes, you are right, and the Oracle does know–same subjects with adjusted approaches.
‘the sky sings pink’ I love that! And the whole poem is beautifully dreamlike 😊
Thank you so much, Ingrid. 😀
“owl’s wings whoosh” is one of your delightful word spins
Thank you, Derrick! 😀
Even in 2-dimensions, Marc Chagall’s art is moving. I wonder if a dream moved you to write this “song” recalled perhaps in the liminal space between sleeping and waking.
Nothing conscious that I remember, Marian, but who knows? (Well, the Oracle does, obviously.)😀. Thank you.
There must be something in the air. I’ve been dreaming wildly, too. However, I cannot put them to such beautiful words as you do. What fabulous imagery you have provided us, with, of course, the Oracle’s help. Lovely!
Aww–thank you for your very kind words, Dale! 💙
You know I mean them 🙂 🧡
