In early morning hush,
the moon sings farewell,
gelid murmured notes
through white cat-paw clouds
if you listen, recall
light recalls time recalls light,
the ancient ships of night seas
ask when
ask what
you want
from the whispers and pulses
of mother music from earth and sky,
the fiddle, flute, and drums of
wind-beats and tree rustle,
the cardinal chirps and crow caws,
black on red on blue and green, every color
a promise, a warning
of what is and what was.

Thank you, Derrick.
The moon is much with us. Magic music. (K)
Yes, indeed. ๐๐ถ
That first line could have been one she gave me too ๐
This is so gentle, the back and forth of water flowing and music swelling. We both had that dark ship too!
Beautifully lyrical!
Thank you so much!
You are welcome.
โevery color
a promise, a warning
of what is and what was.โ
All possibilities contained within those colours! And thank you for the mention, Merril ๐

I love the feel of the waking day in this.
Thank you, Ken.
Direct hit with those last two lines! I was just flowing along, when all of a sudden, a warning when I least expected it.
Is that a good thing? Warning probably came from me watching the crows (as well as everything else going on in the world).
Warm whispers of promise could be heard.
Beautiful work.
Thank you!

โGelid murmured notesโ Loved that line. Your poem is dreamy. I feel as if Iโm in a boat; lazily floating in a river. โMerrily Merrily Merril, life is but a dream. ๐
Thank you so much, Rose! ๐
