We Sing
Who can count the stars in the sky,
or every type of bird that flies,
struts, or swims
on rivers blue-jay-bright, or soars
the night on vast raven wings?
Can you count all these things—
pinprick lights, feathered strings
connected songs, they, we sing.
A quadrille for yesterday’s dVerse prompt—the word was type. I will be back later to host today’s Tuesday Poetics on dVerse!

Thank you so much!
Great! Let’s have joy with and within nature. It’s free and we are originary part of it. Thanks for sharing, Merril! Have a good week! xx Michael
Thank you so much, Michael!
I hope you have a great week, too!
Quadrilliffic, M! Thanks.
Thank you, Ron.!
Singing with the birds is much better than counting them!
Thank you–although crows. . .😊
You’re welcome, Merril. Yeah, crows are so good at carrying a tune.
🤣🤣
Loved
Thanks.
Spectacular! (One of my favorites.) I could never count all the birds but I love hearing them sing.
Thank you so much! 💙
I love hearing the birds sing, too.
Nice one Merril
Much💖love
Thank you, Gillena. 💙
Beautiful flow to this Merril..
Thank you, Ain.
Lovely reminder to enjoy birds sing! 💙
Very good and the painting is beautiful.
Thank you!
Beautiful poem. I agree. I think we have to stop counting and take it all in.
Thank you so much! Yes, I agree.
Goodness, I LOVE this. Reminds me of “Where the Crawdads Sing,” and the complete joy I get when I immerse myself in nature. Just beautiful.
Thank you so much, De! 💙
So lovely! Makes me think of how much I enjoy seeing and hearing birds when I go on my walks or just hanging out on my back porch. Sometimes I do count, but for fun 😉
Thank you so much, Marie! 😊
Mindfulness in all its’ beauty! Love this Merril!
Thank you very much, Carol! 😊
May it always be so. (K)
Yes, indeed!
I love the lyricism of this, Merril, which reminds me of a quote from Blake’s Book of Thel “Can Wisdom Be Put In A Silver Rod/Or Love In A Golden Bowl?”
Thank you so much, Ingrid.
And to remind you even obliquely of Blake–what a compliment!
To get to this from ‘type’ is wonderful – if you hadn’t already conceived it
they, we, and this poem sings too!
Aww–that’s very kind. Thank you, David! 💙
This is absolutely wonderful! I love it, Ms Bird-Lover!
Thank you so much, Dale! 🙂
My pleasure, Merril.
