Stars and Mind
Neuronal cells within our brains,
galaxies clustered on filaments,
cosmology and neurosurgery–
the mapping of space and mind,
everywhere synchronicity, resemblance
in shapes and patterns,
the golden ratio in cochlea
and in the Milky Way,
in ear-pressed shell,
we hear the sea and stars.
A quadrille for dVerse. The prompt word is map.
Oh, I love that “ear-pressed shell.” And the concept that stars might sing.
Thank you so much, De. And thank you for the prompt!
Your title reminds me of Joni‘s ‘I am a Woman of Heart and Mind’ bit the quadrille is something else! I love the juxtaposition of brains and neurosurgery with galaxies and cosmology, and the lines:
‘the golden ratio in cochlea
and in the Milky Way,
in ear-pressed shell,
we hear the sea and stars.’
Thank you so much, Kim. I’m so pleased you
enjoyed it!
A chill-producing quadrille … truly.
Thank you, Helen! I hope it was a good chill. 😀
I love this… I knew you would use sea shells. It all makes sense to me.
Thank you, Colleen!
How did you know I’d use sea shells? I didn’t even know I would till I was writing a little while ago and got to the end! 😂
I don’t know! I came here and had sea shells on my mind as soon as I opened your poem. It was a lovely surprise.
Wow–that is wild! 💙
I like the perceptual link between macro and micro. Life really is all a matter of degree of this and that. Well done, Merril.
Thank you, Lisa. 😊
You’re welcome.
Lovely! Those last lines, hearing the stars in a seashell, such a brilliant image!
Oracle and Redon were whispering loud this evening/afternoon 🙂
Thank you very much!
They really were.😊
Beautiful! Yes… the shell sound resonates with the universe.
Thank you very much, Susan! 😊
“everywhere synchronicity, resemblance
in shapes and patterns,”
and
“in ear-pressed shell,
we hear the sea and stars.”
❤️
Thank you very much, Melissa! 🥰
Yeah, I like it all very much, but that final stanza’s Mind-blowingly Goooood! Well done, MS. Thanks
Thank you, Ron.! That is high praise indeed from you! 😊
Now, this is a mind map that actually makes sense to me!
Thank you, Liz! 🙂
You’re welcome, Merril!
Luv the heights in this one and of the shell held to the ear, to bring back the simplicity and wonder.
Nice one
Happy you dropped by my blog
Much💖love
Thank you very much, Gillena.
And you’re very welcome. ❤️
Both musical and metaphysical…a wonderfully cosmic write, Merril!
That’s lovely, Lynn. Thank you!
Magical! (K)
Thank you!
Isn’t it amazing when we noticed that: everywhere synchronicity, resemblance
in shapes and patterns.
In small things specially, it is a delight to hear the sea and stars .
Thank you, Grace. You’re right, it is both amazing and a delight!
The magic of synchronicity is everywhere if only we would truly see.
So true. Thank you!
Beautifully done. I love this great metaphor.
Thank you, Dwight! 🙂
You are welcome.
Oh yes, the proverbial “message of the sea carried in the sea shell.” First time I’ve thought of that in ages, Thank you.
..
Thank you, Jim.
I, too, loved the sea shell image bridging the vast distance
Thank you very much, Derrick. 🥰
Gotta love those stars!
Thank you, Ken. 🙂
The imagery is exquisite!

I love this… maybe there is something such as a divine symmetry
Just beautiful! ❤ Gorgeous visuals with your words ❤

Beautiful, Merril: I often think about these connections and similarities myself!
Thank you, Ingrid. Great minds! 😅
I loved the ending, its the best! 👏👏👏
Thank you! 🙂
Another poem of yours that makes me look deep inside – our brains are a universe where the stars are bright, if we just look deep.
Thank you very much, Pam.
I’m pleased I made you reflect. 💙
Always!
😊
Merril, you work so well with the prompts. This has some beautiful images.
Thank you, Luanne. 😊
You are welcome!
Lovely!
Thank you! 😊
Different, I like it.
That is an inspiring painting.
I adore the idea that I can hear the stars. Thank you, Merril!
Thank you very much, Resa!
Oh yes. Those stars are made for singing to us earthling. I’ve had them whisper songs to me. This is so good. Love it. Thanks.
Thank you very much, Selma.
I’m so pleased you hear those star songs, too.
Beautiful! I love that last line!!! 🙂
Thank you so much, Linda! 😊
