Sleep now child and dream
without fear of violence–
hold hope in your heart
through the somber images
gambol into the future
This tanka is for Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday, using synonyms for afraid and grave. I didn’t go with the Halloween theme.

No small challenge to be a child, parent, or poet these days…you rose to the poet challenge.
Thank you very much, Janice. That’s a lovely comment.
Your most welcome 🙂
How splendid! Your poem reads likes a lullaby. I love it, Merril. And, you’re right – Jane’s blue horses go with it perfectly. ❤
🙂
Lovely lulluing and soft – straight out of the ending of a sophisticated fairytale –
Thank you so much, Susan!
Lovely, Merril.
Thank you, Jill!
I will join you and wish for little children to “gambol” like free, little fawns in the dewy morning grass, Merril.
Thank you very much, Robin.
Oh, that’s lovely! What a beautiful wish, one that Marc would have agreed with too.
Thank you! That’s a nice thought. 🙂
I told Colleen this was sort of a companion poem to your blue horses one.
They do go together, as you’d expect. Marc’s ghost is close maybe.
Could be–maybe talking to the Oracle. 😉
I bet she’s busy this evening 🙂
Oh–yes, she might be!
I might give her a visit today. See if she’s in tune with the Christian feast.
Good idea!
🙂
I don’t think it’s celebrated like that here, except for in Hispanic communities–Day of the Dead.
It isn’t really celebrated here, except as a family reunion to decorate graves. Morbid. All those chrysanthemums.
🙂
Your poem is beautiful
Thank you so much, Beth!
Very pretty and heartfelt!
Thank you so much, Luanne!
The words and picture fit together well.
Thank you, Ken.
Beautifully done…
Thank you!
Nicely written Merril.
Thank you very much, Hélène.
Once more, suitably topical – well done
Thank you, Derrick!
This prayer is just right. (K)
Thank you, Kerfe!
Hello Merril! Your poem is beautiful––sweet with a tinge of sadness. ❤
Hi Vashti! Thank you so much. I think you are exactly right.
❤ xo
