with a bang
comes the birth of worlds
and star songs
drift, falling
to papaya glow, rising
over barren rocks
then soaring
above burnished crags
the black-winged
dreamers fly,
carrying all the befores
and all the afters
landing here
where light and shadows
together
dance, holding
possibility aloft
for millennia.
A shadorma sequence for Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday. The poem is inspired by the image above chosen by Linda Lee Lyberg.
Majestic!
Thank you so much!
🙂
Beautifully done, Merril!
Thank you, Jill!
Truly a beautiful poem Merril!
Thank you so much, Holly!
You’re so welcome Merril. Just the truth!
❤
I love your descriptions and the shadorma sequence is fabulous! Good work… now, get back to work. (I will too) LOL! ❤
Thank you so much, Colleen. Now, I’m kind of winding down for the day. . .we’ll see. 🙂
I’m working on an outline. Distractions all day. 😀
Good luck! I’m just trying to catch up with stuff.
It does look like the beginning of the world…which your words so beautifully reflect. Black winged dreamers…
Thank you very much, Kerfe.
I wasn’t sure what they were or where, so black-winged dreamers seemed it.
This is lovely.
Thank you very much, Luanne!
Wonderful imagery, Merril.
Thank you, Dale!
Just. Perfect. From the papaya glow to the black-winged dreamers. I love the imagery and the dreamy optimism.
Awww–thank you, Pam!
I love your work. Period.
😘
Love the imagery, the sense of Time and Life beginning … and “papaya glow” … wow!
Thank you so much, Marie!
You extract inspiration and uplift from setting your sights high. My earth-bound quote comes today from Emily Dickinson: “Not knowing when the dawn may come, I open every door.”
I admire your daily visits from the muse, Merril.
Thank you very much, Marian.
You can’t go wrong with Emily Dickinson. I like that line, too.
Oh, you blew us awake with a startle but then laid us gently down in a soft bed of dreams by the end. Glorious 👏🤗😘
Awww–thank you very much. 😘
Very clever, Merril. The “befores and afters” landing in one place is like a Twilight Zone story beginning.
Beautifully written!
Thank you so much. I’m a bit obsessed with time. 😉
It is an interesting conundrum.
That “Papaya glow” line is what really gives this so much punch – so excellent!
Thank you so much!
A beautiful Shadorma Sequence, Merril! ❤
Thank you very much, Vashti!
