In this sanctuary here
I wander, take quiet breaths
as squirrels rustle
in harmony with wind and water,
and if I feel the storm coming—
~there’s a soft shine in the distance~
as we stroll, night lights
in a world of when, its own poetry
where spirits watch over us
in the cold night
and if they feel the storm coming—
still, there the light shines soft in the distance.
I collaborated with the Oracle for this variation on a Puente. (Yes, that’s what I’m going to call it.) I was thinking of taking a walk in the park this moring, but the rain is pounding on my windows right now.
Such a lovely puente variation (yeah, g’head, call it what you will!) that brings a sigh of peace.
Thank you, Dale. I’m pleased it made you feel that way.
It really did…
🙂
Beautiful.
Thank you so much!
Lovely, Merril. ❤ I enjoyed listening to the rain early this morning. I think it's stopped now.
Thank you!
I think it’s still raining here, but not so hard.
So, you didn’t get snow last weekend, and now it’s raining.
Very contemplative verse, Merril! I like the soft light, waiting . . .
Thank you, Marian! I’m pleased you liked the verse.
Yes, it was cold during the week, and now it’s warmed up again. If this was snow, we’d be in trouble!
Gorgeous, Merril! It sounds like you’ve got our rain from yesterday. It made for a terrible commute.
Thank you very much, Jill.
Sorry about your commute. Driving in rain and rush hour is the worst!
Especially when it’s dark. My eyes are terrible with the glare and wet roads. 😦
Yes, that’s even worse. I don’t like to drive at all now when it’s dark.
This is quietly beautiful, especially the end, a Yeatsian line if ever.
Our poems are similar in their theme, I think, both have the storm coming, and yours ends in the soft haven of light, mine in the bright light of spring.
Yeatsian! What a lovely comment. Thank you! 🙂 Of course, our poems would be a bit similar. 😉
🙂 They are rarely totally different.
What’s form for if not reforming a bit?
Love the last 2 lines!
Hahaha. Thank you very much! 🙂
This gave me a lovely feeling. And I’m determined to start my every other day walks tomorrow!
Awww–thank you! I’m hoping to get out early tomorrow morning for a walk, too. 🙂
Isn’t that like the Oracle, with her pulse on our sentiments while reminding us of the beauty of potential?
She always knows! 🙂
